SUZUKI announced a problem with the Grand Vitara 1.9 Diesel affecting a total of 6,591 vehicles.
It has been identified that, due to the use of an inappropriate material for the intercooler outlet pipe insulator, it is possible for the intercooler outlet pipe insulation to detach from the throttle body. This may cause excessive deposition of carbon within the diesel particulate filter, that may burn up, and result in overheating or melting of the filter. In the worst case the filter may catch fire. Vehicles built from 6/28/2005 to 5/31/2008 are at risk.
Recalled vehicles will have the intercooler outlet pipe insulator replaced with a quality assured component and bracket.
If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should
find your nearest SUZUKI dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
