FORD announced a problem with the Transit affecting a total of 51,712 vehicles.
It has been established that,the high pressure connection to the power assisted steering pump could detach. Should this incur, loss of steering assistance would ensue. Additionally, hydraulic fluid could leak onto the exhaust with the attendant risk of fire. Vehicles built from 11/11/2005 to 9/29/2007 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. To prevent such an occurrence, recalled vehicles will have the subject power assisted steering pipe fitted with a retaining collar.
