FORD announced a problem with the Fiesta and Fusion affecting a total of 1,311 vehicles.
The weld seam securing the brake unit mounting plate to the rear axle may not be to specification on a small number of vehicles within the affected range.. Vehicles built from 08/28/2002 to 09/03/2002 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Check the production date code and replace the axle where found necessary.

find your nearest FORD dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
