Possible fuel spillage when petrol cap is opened

TOYOTA Celica recall Mar 2003TOYOTA announced a problem with the Celica affecting a total of 2,553 vehicles.

The check valve in the fuel tank inlet that prevents reverse fuel flow is incorrectly fitted on some vehicles . This could cause fuel to spill out when the cap is opened if there is high internal pressure in the fuel tank. Vehicles built from 03/25/2002 to 11/04/2002 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Correctly fit the check valve or, if necessary, replace the fuel tank and check valve.

Vehicles with the following identification numbers are affected:

JTDDR38T#00133333 to JTDDR38T#00151427
JTDDY38T#00059144 to JTDDY38T#00064700
