FORD F-150 and F-250 Recall

Risk of fire

FORD F-150 and F-250 recall Nov 2011FORD announced a problem with the F-150 and F-250 affecting a total of 1,014 vehicles.

It is possible that where these vehicles are operating in high road salt conditions, the fuel tank straps could fracture, due to corrosion. This could lead to the detachment of the fuel tank, resulting in the fuel tank contacting the road surface, causing a fuel leak, which could cause a risk of a vehicle fire. Vehicles built from 09/01/1997 to 09/01/2004 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall all affected vehicles and replace the fuel tank straps with improved salt corrosion protection straps.

If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should find your nearest FORD dealer who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
