RENAULT announced a problem with the Espace affecting a total of 6,597 vehicles.
The spare wheel winch cable may seize or break and allow the wheel to fall onto the road. Vehicles built from 09/01/1996 to 12/11/1998 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Fit a modified spare wheel support cross member and winch unit.

find your nearest RENAULT dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
