MASERATI announced a problem with the QUATTROPORTE & GRANTURISMO affecting a total of 1,577 vehicles.
It has been identified that during manufacture, an incorrect tightening torque may have been applied to the front suspension ball joint retaining nuts. This can result in the ball joint becoming loose in it's taper, and in extreme circumstances an increase in wear may cause the suspension arm to break. Vehicles built from 9/1/2003 to 6/30/2008 are at risk.
Recalled vehicles will have the subject ball joint retaining nuts checked for correct torque. Should this not be the case, both suspension levers and the hub carrier will be changed.
If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should
find your nearest MASERATI dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
