FIAT announced a problem with the MULTIPLA 1.9 JTD affecting a total of 10,276 vehicles.
Under environmental conditions that require intensive use of salt on the roads, corrosive deposits accumulate inside the noise-insulating protective sheath located on the front suspension springs, creating areas of corrosion, which may lead to the spring breaking after a period of time. Vehicles built from 05/01/1999 to 12/31/2004 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the front coil springs with those of a new type.
