MERCEDES BENZ CLS (model 218) Recall

Passenger air bag may not deploy correctly

MERCEDES BENZ CLS (model 218) recall Oct 2011MERCEDES BENZ announced a problem with the CLS (model 218) affecting a total of 1,288 vehicles.

It is possible that, due to a faulty electrical connection and high air temperature, only the first stage of the air-bag will only ignite and the second stage will not. This could result in the non-deployment or full deployment of the passenger air-bag. If the vehicle is involved in a serious collision it is possible that the passenger may receive increased head injuries. Vehicles built from 10/21/2010 to 05/30/2011 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall all the affected vehicles and replace the passenger air-bag.

Vehicles with the following identification numbers are affected:

WDD2183032A001262 to WDD2183742A010265
