MITSUBISHI ASX Recall

Power steering assistance may be inoperative

MITSUBISHI ASX recall Jan 2012MITSUBISHI announced a problem with the ASX affecting a total of 6,154 vehicles.

On a number of right hand drive vehicles it has been established that the electrical wiring harness to the power assisted steering control unit for the Electric Power Steering (EPS) has not been secured correctly. Vehicle vibration could cause a break in the connection between the harness and the control unit. Should this occur, the EPS warning light will illuminate on the dash and the driver will experience heavier steering control, although control of the vehicle is not lost.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. All affected vehicles will be recalled for the fitment of a modified bracket and securing clip.

If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should find your nearest MITSUBISHI dealer who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
