Stop lamps may fail to illuminate

FORD MAVERICK recall Nov 2002FORD announced a problem with the MAVERICK affecting a total of 2,072 vehicles.

Oil residue from the brake pedal bracket may contaminate the stop lamp switch and cause the stop lamps to fail. Vehicles built from 12/21/2000 to 06/30/2002 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Clean the oil residue from the brake pedal bracket and fit a new stop lamp switch.

If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should find your nearest FORD dealer who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
