BMW X5 Recall |
Seat belt tensioners |
BMW announced a problem with the X5 affecting a total of 445 vehicles.
It is possible that the reinforcement ring in the front seat belt tensioner has not been securely crimped onto the belt tensioner's steel cable. This connection could give in the event of a severe collision and could work loose in extreme cases. Vehicles built from 04/15/2002 to 09/04/2002 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Check the production date on both front seat belt tensioners and replace if they fall within the affected production period. |
If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should
find your nearest BMW dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
