CADILLAC XLR CORVETTE Recall

Possiblity that the brake pipes may be affected by heat

CADILLAC XLR CORVETTE recall Jan 2005CADILLAC announced a problem with the XLR CORVETTE affecting a total of 1 vehicles.

Some of the metal brake pipes are placed so that they could be affected by heat or they could be in a position where chafing could take place. If the above circumstances occur they could lead to, in extreme circumstances and over a period of time, either loss of brake fluid or air in the braking system. These conditions will lead to a reduction in the performance of the rear brakes. Vehicles built from 02/01/2004 to 02/01/2005 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected for inspection. If neccessary re-route, replace the brake pipes. On some vehicles a machining tab on the rear differential may need to be removed to allow adequate clearance for the metal brake pipes.

Vehicles with the following identification numbers are affected:

IG6YV34A945604182 to IG6YV34A945604182
