Front seatbelt buckle may detach during a collision

KIA Sportage, Shuma and Mentor recall May 2009KIA announced a problem with the Sportage, Shuma and Mentor affecting a total of 6,637 vehicles.

It has been identified that the front seatbelts may not latch correctly. This could result in them de-latching during a collision. Vehicles built from 6/1/1998 to 5/31/2000 are at risk.

Recalled vehicles will have both front seatbelt stalks replaced.
