BMW E46, E39, 3 & 5 Series Recall |
Possible detachment of ball bearing from front suspension strut top mounting |
BMW announced a problem with the E46, E39, 3 & 5 Series affecting a total of 2,023 vehicles.
It is possible that the ball bearing in the front suspension strut top mounting may not have been securely fitted. If the weight of the car is taken off of the road wheel for any reason the bearing may became displaced with a risk of personal injury or damage to the suspension. Vehicles built from 11/06/2001 to 11/20/2001 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Replace both front suspension strut mounts.
