Wiring loom may chafe and left seat console may not withstand severe rear crash
VW announced a problem with the Touareg affecting a total of 789 vehicles.
The foot operated parking brake can chafe on the main wiring loom, the left seat console may not withstand a severe rear crash because of faulty welding and on some vehicles with a V^ petrol engine an additional earth connection must be fitted to the fuel tank Vehicles built from 10/01/2002 to 08/01/2003 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall affected vehicles, fit anti chafing protection to foot operated parking brake, check and if necessary replace left seat console and fit additional earth connection to the fuel tank filler neck
