TOYOTA announced a problem with the HILUX affecting a total of 1,218 vehicles.
It has been established that when the ambient temperature is cold and the fuel in the fuel tank is low, air could be inhaled from the fuel tank vent tube into the fuel filter. This air could then pass into the fuel pump resulting in the vehicle surging, or in the worst case the engine stalling. Vehicles built from 07/06/2005 to 12/15/2005 are at risk.
Recalled vehicles will have the fuel tank vent tube replaced.
Vehicles with the following identification numbers are affected:
AHTCS12G#07501063 to AHTCS12G#07504102 AHTDR22G#05500202 to AHTDR22G#05501656 AHTFR22G#06000366 to AHTFR22G#06002202 AHTFR29G#07000020 to AHTFR29G#07003287
