MITSUBISHI Outlander GS45X with 2.2 PSA engine Recall
Engine may stall
MITSUBISHI announced a problem with the Outlander GS45X with 2.2 PSA engine affecting a total of 387 vehicles.
When a driver sequentially performs a quick gear shift down (high rpm, 6th, to 5th, to 4th gear etc),during high speed driving (high engine load), the engine ECU can judge the engine to run in "overrun" condition. As a result, to avoid engine damage, the ECU will turn off the engine by stopping the fuel supply and closing the throttle.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to re-programme the engine ECU.
