TOYOTA announced a problem with the Avensis affecting a total of 6 vehicles.
It has been identified that,on certain vehicles equipped with a genuine Toyota towing hitch, the hitch installation bolts were over-tightened. In the worst case, the bolts may break under certain conditions of usage. Vehicles built from 10/29/2008 to 2/10/2009 are at risk.
Recalled vehicles will have the hitch installation bolts replaced, and tightened to the correct torque.
