MERCEDES BENZ E-Class and CLS class Recall

Steering may become heavy

MERCEDES BENZ E-Class and CLS class recall Oct 2011MERCEDES BENZ announced a problem with the E-Class and CLS class affecting a total of 318 vehicles.

Power steering assistance maybe lost due to an implausible signal occurring in the control unit. The mechanical steering of the vehicle is maintained but greater input from the driver will be required. When the fault occurs warning will be delivered both visually on the vehicle display and audibly via a signal tone. Vehicles built from 11/01/2010 to 04/30/2011 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the electric power steering units.
