MAZDA MPV (2.3 Engine) Recall

Pulley may detach from the power steering oil pump

MAZDA MPV  (2.3 Engine) recall Sep 2004MAZDA announced a problem with the MPV (2.3 Engine) affecting a total of 79 vehicles.

The possibility exists that, the power steering oil pump pulley retaining nut may become loose, resulting, if the vehicle continues to be driven in the pulley becoming detached. In the worst case due to loss of drive to the water pump, the engine may seize. Vehicles built from 03/04/2003 to 10/30/2003 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall likely to be affected vehicles and replace the pulley retaining nut with a modified version, which will be "loctited" in place, and tightened to an increased torque.

JMZLW****00210365 to JMZLW****00301090
