LAND ROVER announced a problem with the Defender affecting a total of 4,834 vehicles.
Parking brake efficiency can be impaired as a result of an incorrectly assembled oil seal at the transfer box output shaft allowing oil to contaminate the brake linings. Vehicles built from 6/7/2007 to 2/13/2008 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect and where necessary fit a new oil seal, degrease the back plate and drum and replace the brake linings.
If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should
find your nearest LAND ROVER dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
