JAGUAR S Type, New XJ Series and XK Series (Automatic vehicles only) Recall

Auto gearbox may engage reverse when in forward drive.

JAGUAR S Type, New XJ Series and XK Series (Automatic vehicles only) recall Mar 2004JAGUAR announced a problem with the S Type, New XJ Series and XK Series (Automatic vehicles only) affecting a total of 13,911 vehicles.

(a) In conditions of low oil pressure or a sticking valve in the gearbox, with the vehicle stationary in Drive, the gearbox will, without warning or indication, select Reverse. (b) With the vehicle moving forward in 1st 2nd or 3rd gear, reverse may be selected without any manual input in the event of a loss of oil pressure in the transmission. Vehicles built from 07/01/2001 to 06/30/2003 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Reprogramme the gearbox gear selector module.

Vehicles with the following identification numbers are affected:

A28203 to A37134
M30183 to M96322
G00001 to G13780
