MAZDA announced a problem with the Mazda 6 (2.5L petrol) affecting a total of 168 vehicles.
It is possible that the clips retaining the piston pins were not fitted correctly during engine assembly. The pins may come out of position and wear the cylinder bores. In the worst case the engine will stop and not restart. Vehicles built from 8/1/2008 to 12/2/2008 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to fit new connecting rods and pistons.
Vehicles with the following identification numbers are affected:
JMZGH1*L681128055 to JMZFH1*L681139393 JMZGH1*L601128035 to JMZGH1*L601139368
If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should
