FIAT announced a problem with the Grande Punto and Abarth Grande Punto affecting a total of 56,168 vehicles.
It has been identified that, the tightening torque of the steering shaft upper fixing bolt may not be correct. This may result in the emission of noise, and in extreme cases breakage of the shaft, which will result in loss of steering control. Vehicles built from 7/1/2006 to 4/30/2008 are at risk.
Recalled vehicles will have the subject bolt checked for correct torque which if necessary will be set to the correct specification. If the torque is outside of the rework stipulated range, the shaft will be replaced.
If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should
find your nearest FIAT dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
