HONDA announced a problem with the Civic Hybrid affecting a total of 583 vehicles.
It is possible that a diode within the DC converter of the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system became damaged during initial testing. Over time the diode could deteriorate and eventually fail, causing a short circuit within the IMA system which results in the 100amp fuse blowing. A melted fuse will result in the engine stalling and the engine cannot be restarted. There will not be any noticeable symptoms prior to the engine stalling. Vehicles built from 14/12/2005 to 23/10/2006 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. The dealer will replace the DC converter with a new one.
