Front suspension arm mountings - failure of weld

FIAT Idea recall Nov 2007FIAT announced a problem with the Idea affecting a total of 793 vehicles.

There is a possibility that corrosion may be present near the welds for the front suspension arm front mountings, on the front cross member.Should this be the case, in time this could lead to noise whilst driving, and the possibility that the weld could fail. Failure of the weld may lead to loss of vehicle stability. Vehicles built from 5/1/2005 to 9/30/2005 are at risk.

Recalled vehicle will be checked to ascertain whether corrosion is present near the front suspension mountings. If this is found to be the case, the front cross member will be replaced. If corrosion is not present, a front cross member strengthening kit will be fitted.
