MAN STARLINER N516 Recall

Possible fire outbreaks in the vicinity of the central electrical panel.

MAN announced a problem with the STARLINER N516 affecting a total of 49 vehicles.

It has been diagnosed that the fire is due to thermal overload on 300-150 negative terminals. The cause being due to a transitional resistance between the cable lug and the terminal which has increased excessively because of the installation of Nord lock washers. Vehicles built from 01/01/2004 to 08/11/2006 are at risk.

Recalled vehicles will be checked to ascertain whether Nord lock washers are fitted. If not, no action will be taken. If Nord lock washers are fitted, they will be removed and replaced with serrated nuts. During each of these procedures, the cabling will be checked for smoldering type damage.

If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should find your nearest MAN dealer who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
