VW announced a problem with the Transporter affecting a total of 5,916 vehicles.
Wax residue may not have been removed from the steering rack attachment points on the subframe which may result in a loosening of the steering rack. Vehicles built from 11/01/2003 to 12/01/2003 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall affected vehicles, remove wax from the attachment area and re-tighten rack. At the same time the cooling fan control unit will be checked and if necessary replaced on affected vehicles.
If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should
find your nearest VW dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
