Possibility that the sprocket bolt at the rear side of the camshaft could break

NISSAN X-Trail (T30) YD22 Diesel and Almera (N16) recall Jun 2004NISSAN announced a problem with the X-Trail (T30) YD22 Diesel and Almera (N16) affecting a total of 3,001 vehicles.

The timing chain tensioner may become defective which can result in the timing chain jamming. Should this occur, the engine may stall or fail to start. The condition may also result in the camshaft turning in a non-uniform fashion, which could lead to the failure of the vacuum pump drive, and a reduction in braking assistance. Vehicles built from 07/01/1999 to 12/01/2002 are at risk.

Recalled vehicles will have the camshaft chain guide and tensioner replaced.

Vehicles with the following identification numbers are affected:

JN1TENT30U0000007 to JN1TENT30U0035143
