Front suspension cross member may fracture

FIAT IDEA recall Jan 2007FIAT announced a problem with the IDEA affecting a total of 45 vehicles.

It has been identified that, the chassis front cross member may have a weld which does not conform to specification. This may lead to a creaking noise being heard under braking, and could in time lead to the cross member cracking in the area of it's mounting to the vehicle's body. Vehicles built from 3/1/2005 to 3/31/2005 are at risk.

Recalled vehicles will have the front cross member replaced.

If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should find your nearest FIAT dealer who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
