FIAT GRANDE PUNTO Recall

Steering column may become disconnected

FIAT GRANDE PUNTO recall Apr 2007FIAT announced a problem with the GRANDE PUNTO affecting a total of 5,638 vehicles.

Incorrect profile (flaring) of the end of the steering shaft at the upper steering column universal joint. This may give the possibility of the steering column becoming disconnected from the universal joint with a consequent loss of vehicle steering. Vehicles built from 6/1/2006 to 7/31/2006 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect the profile and flaring of the end of the steering shaft at the upper universal joint and where necessary renew the shaft.
