MERCEDES BENZ E- Class, SL, CLS Recall

Brake pedal may require more effort than expected

MERCEDES BENZ E- Class, SL, CLS recall Jul 2005MERCEDES BENZ announced a problem with the E- Class, SL, CLS affecting a total of 58,022 vehicles.

In isolated cases it is possible for vibrations within the vehicle to, in turn, vibrate the wiring harness connected to the Sensotronic Brake Control unit. This causes the internal contacts within the unit to suffer abrasion and subsequent resistance increase. The resultant affect is that more effort will be required on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. Vehicles built from 01/01/2001 to 12/31/2005 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and mount an additional bracket to the electrical harness to prevent relative movement.

If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should find your nearest MERCEDES BENZ dealer who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
