MERCEDES BENZ BUS announced a problem with the Citaro affecting a total of 153 vehicles.
It has been identified that, the grid heaters fitted to vehicles with EEV emission standard may suffer malfunctions or failures, irrespective of the vehicles being in motion or parked. Unless addressed, there is a risk of current leakage in the control head of the grid heater which could result in a short circuit. Should this occur, the casting compound could melt and create a smouldering fire.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. As a temporary measure, the grid heater will be deactivated.
