CADILLAC CORVETTE Recall

Possibility that the ecl will not perform normally

CADILLAC CORVETTE recall Nov 2004CADILLAC announced a problem with the CORVETTE affecting a total of 105 vehicles.

The vehicle uses an Electronic Column Lock (ECL) to prevent the steering wheel being turned when the ignition key is removed. It has been identified that the following two conditions could prevent the correct operation of the steering lock. 1.If the Power-train Control module suffers low voltage or an interruption, whilst the engine is being cranked, the vehicle can be driven with the steering locked. 2. During quick cranking, the ECL lock pins may not fully withdraw, which will result in either a noise or rattle, or if there is insufficient clearance, the steering wheel will not turn. Vehicles built from 10/01/1997 to 10/01/2004 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall and rework affected vehicles

If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should find your nearest CADILLAC dealer who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
