LOTUS ELISE Recall

Front brake caliper bolts concern

LOTUS announced a problem with the ELISE affecting a total of 94 vehicles.

There is a slight chance that one or more of the tapped holes for the four bolts securing the two halves of the brake caliper body together, has not been threaded through the full depth of the hole. The structural integrity of any such caliper may be compromised with the risk of fatigue failure of the caliper occurring after an extended period. Vehicles built from 07/01/2001 to 08/31/2001 are at risk.

The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Check the caliper tapped holes. If any incomplete threading is found, the brake caliper is to be replaced.

If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should find your nearest LOTUS dealer who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
