VW announced a problem with the Tiguan (with diesel engines) affecting a total of 1,452 vehicles.
The earth terminal of the additional air heater may not be correctly attached. This can lead to overheating of the connection and in the most unfavourable case to a vehicle fire. Vehicles built from 11/7/2007 to 10/2/2008 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to modify the attachment of the earth cable on the heating element of the additional air heater.
If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should
find your nearest VW dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
