TOYOTA announced a problem with the Yaris affecting a total of 16 vehicles.
The combustion rate of the airbag propellant may be too fast causing excessive internal pressure in the inflator during airbag deployment. In an extreme case, the inflator casing may rupture leading to a scattering of metal fragments. Vehicles built from 29/5/2001 to 30/5/2001 are at risk.
The following remedial action is necessary to address this problem. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the front passenger airbag assembly.
If you think that your vehicle may be affected by this recall you should
find your nearest TOYOTA dealer
who will be able to confirm whether or not your car is safe and arrange its free repair if necessary.
